We learned this packbait recipe from http://catsandcarp.com/, and it has been hands-down the most effective packbait we've tried. It's super easy to make and only requires a few cheap ingredients:

1. Panko (bread crumbs)

2. Strawberry jello powder

3. Canned corn

4. Instant oats (optional; this isn't part of the original recipe, just something we add)

Mix the dry ingredients first (panko, oats & jello powder). Then, drain the water from the canned corn (you can save the water in a separate container to pour in later if the mix is too dry), and add the corn to the mix. Once you mix it up, it should look something like the first picture above, and should pack into a ball easily. If it's too wet, add more oats or panko. If it's too dry, add some water (or the water from the corn, if you saved it).
