Reimer's Ranch & Pace Bend Park Sessions

Located only about a half hour from each other, these two parks are great summer vacation destinations and even better carp fisheries. We spent a day at Reimer's Ranch swimming & fishing the Pedernales River, and 3 days at Pace Bend cliff diving, swimming, and fishing Lake Travis. The first day was our day at Reimer's Ranch. We started with a short hike around the ranch, but because we had gotten there a tad later than expected, it soon became too hot for hiking (this trip was in early August of 2019, so the TX summer heat was in full swing), so we headed down to the

sandbar lining the river. We walked down the sandbar about 100 yards from the swimming area and set up our coolers and fishing gear. In the particular spot we were at, the river stayed shallow (waist deep) until dropping off into a deep section that continued almost clear to the other bank. That deep section was where we threw our lines, while we swam in the shallow waters to keep cool. There was pretty much no current, so we were able to freeline bread on our light spinning combos. It wasn't long before I landed an absolutely beautiful common that also broke my personal best record at the time.

As the evening approached, we moved on to Pace Bend Park and set up our campsite. Fishing the cliffs of Pace Bend had it's challenges and the first two days didn't produce a carp but we had a blast fishing, swimming and cliff diving anyways. It wasn't until the final day, just before we pulled the lines in to head home to our apartment in College Station, one of our lines screamed off. I ended up breaking my PB common for the second time that trip, and I couldn't have been happier. Both the Pedernales River and Lake Travis are excellent carp fisheries, and I can't wait to fish them both again.

Tyler & Randie, this is just amazing. I am going to get back on when I can get to my laptop! We have hot to find a way to get this site out to more people! So informative is so many areas. Love you both. Mamaw
